This may sound obvious, but by simply dividing the cost of a pack of diapers by the number of diapers in the pack, you can figure out whether what you're getting is really a good deal or is just being advertised as one. If at first you happen to settle on a more expensive brand, remember that as your baby gets older (ie, potentially has less sensitive skin, less leaky poop, and pees less frequently), you may want to experiment with less expensive brands.ĭivide and conquer. You'll want to make sure you've found a good match, but also, keep in mind that your newborn will be growing very quickly in the months to come. Start out by buying diapers in smaller quantities. No need to stockpile on NB size! Also, I don’t intend to buy anything higher than a size 3 since that’s too far out for me to guess how many I’ll need.By: Laura A. Since I don’t know what size the baby will be, I figured I’d just buy NB if needed as I go. I’ve researched around and saw that you can totally skip on the NB diaper size, unless your baby’s born a premie or really small. Diapers are diapers, and I’ll take the best deal I can get! Also, you may note that I skipped completely on NB sizes. I’ve babysat and nannied for enough babies to know that I’m not loyal to any brand. I think that’ll last me for a couple of months (I hope!). I spent a total of $162.46 for allllll of that. The bigger in size the diaper, the more they’ll cost.Ĭurrently, my diaper stockpile consists of: Just remember that prices vary depending on diaper size. I completely outdid that price for diapers and pretty much stayed on track for the wipes (especially for it being Pampers and sensitive!). They say that, generally, the prices to stock up on are less than 16¢ a diaper and about 1¢ a wipe. I spent $30 for five boxes of 448 wipes:Īs a guideline for what price to pay and how many of each size to use, I used this site and this site since I know absolutely nothing. I got a coupon in the mail for $20 off my order of $50 or more, so I decided to stock up on Pampers Sensitive Wipes. I also gave into a baby wipe deal from Jet. $12.91/148 size 3 diapers in a box = 8.7¢ per diaper $12.91/160 size 2 diapers in a box = 8¢ per diaper ![]() $12.91/174 size 1 diapers in a box = 7.4¢ per diaper ![]() $14.17/148 size 1 diapers in a box = 9.6¢ per diaper I bought six value packs of Luvs and got $65 back in gift cards, which broke down to $12.91 per box. Both brands are made by Procter and Gamble, but Pampers Swaddlers are the “elite” brand while Luvs are the “value” brand. For the second deal with Luvs, it wasn’t as good of a deal, but still good enough for me to bite. With my REDcard discount, the total came to $14.17 for a giant pack. With that said, all of my diaper deals (so far) are from Target.įor the first batch of Pampers, I bought six boxes in various sizes and got $85 back in Target gift cards (which to me is basically cash back). You get 5% off on EVERY Target purchase and free shipping online. We pay off the entire bill every month, never carrying a balance since the interest rate on it is through the roof. I figured that my DH and I shop at Target so much as is, and adding a baby will only make my Target trips more frequent. I first signed up for a Target REDCard when I found out that I was pregnant. Yes, my friends, you read that correctly. What do I consider a mega steal? Well, 7.4¢/diaper for Luvs and 9.6¢/diaper for Swaddlers (for size 1’s). With a little bit of patience, I got these Pampers and Luvs for a mega steal. I HOPE YOU GUYS AREN’T PAYING THAT MUCH FOR THOSE DIAPERS!! Although the book is quite helpful when it comes to everything else, they said that Luvs were “an amazing 13¢ a diaper” and Pampers Swaddlers were “26¢ each.” HOLY MOLY, GUYS. I was reading about diapers in Baby Bargains (Thanks Monique for the book!!) and was appalled by what they considered a good price. Don’t worry, I’m probably done until after the baby is born. and lots of them! This is a current picture of my stockpile in our garage now. After all, there’s no doubt about it that babies require diapers…. Well, when I learned about diaper stockpiling, I was hooked. We all know how much of a sucker I am for deals. ![]()
