So how could arguably the FIA’s most environmentally-marketable series be losing ground so badly?Īdvert | Become a RaceFans supporter and go ad-freeįormula E’s problem is one F1 used to have: visibility. There are plenty of reasons to be cynical about FE’s own mythology but it’s a series providing things people actually want: good, fun racing and a bit of technological hope for the future. Not merely for myself and because otherwise I’m not sure what I’ll do for the rest of the year, but because it’s a series I love and genuinely believe in. Which is why it’s frustrating that its audiences remain disappointing – if the wheels had simply come off, it would be easier to understand.Īs someone who works in Formula E, I am very keen to see it succeed. Porsche’s breakthrough win deserved more attentionTeams are operating at a higher level than in any prior year in the series and drivers are being forced to be really clever to succeed. The field is probably the most competitive it’s ever been and the new ‘duels’ qualifying format has worked out fantastically, to produce really thrilling sessions. There’s nothing wrong with the racing, which is better than ever. But it requires immediate action, spending and some brave choices. ![]() There are ways to rebuild the brand and reward the teams that have stayed loyal to it. It’s something people have been telling me for years, but now it’s really true and it’s time to admit Formula E needs some tough love on this one. But the FIA’s youngest single-seater world championship has a problem: No one cares about it. ![]() ![]() ![]() Internal applications, then our B2B based Bizapedia Pro API™ might be the answer for you. From those 100 things I can build hundreds more designs.” Community and sustainability “I hate it every time I do it,” he says of the challenge, “but I love it also because being able to create 100 things is awesome. Neville posts a picture daily of a new garment design on his Instagram feed, as proof he is on track. Neville devised the challenge because he felt overwhelmed by the business part of his studio and wanted to get back to his passion: designing. ![]() Some days, he sews two, three, or even five pieces for the challenge. He calls it “100 Designs in 100 Days.” though it does not need to be one design every day. In early 2018, Neville created a yearly challenge for himself that is designed to force creativity. I saw this cool pant that I haven’t made yet,” Neville says, admitting that he would like to make it soon so the design doesn’t get lost. He could only glance at her quickly while driving, but in a look, his mind reinterpreted her outfit into a new design. He shares a memory of driving down the road one day and seeing a woman out of the corner of his eye. Sometimes, Neville’s inspiration just comes to him. Mannequins in bright, fashionable looks attract customers to Neville’s storefront. Often, his clothes feature classic silhouettes with unexpected design elements such as seams, darts, or drapes that keep the garments looking fresh. “Coming up with unique ways of making clothes is also very much a part of my aesthetic,” Neville says. Part of him loves clean lines, but he also likes to create clothes that are fun and interesting. Neville describes his design aesthetic as a duality. When he really has no idea what to create, Neville has one foolproof method: “I close my eyes and use my scissors to just cut and then whatever shape that is, I’ll weave it into something.” He plays with a fabric to see what it wants to do. When asked what his creative process is like, Neville explains that it varies. It’s so much fun, but it makes you dizzy sometimes.” Approach to design “I do it for the end, and then I want to experience it all again, like a dog chasing its tail. While the sewing process is therapeutic, he admits that he relishes finishing a garment. Sewing is a way for Neville to center himself while working through finances, designs, or whatever else is in his head. It’s about mindfulness and taking the time to sort through his thoughts. “The process of sewing and stitching fabric together is very therapeutic for me,” he says. “My mother made clothes for us, but I didn’t really love the clothes that she was making,” he says, “I wanted to make my own stuff.”įor him, sewing is not simply about a craft or about creating something. It’s a loop that also had me hooked on 10tons’ JYDGE, and it’s just as effective here.ĭysmantle isn’t as engaging as zombie classics like Days Gone or The Last of Us, just to name two, but it’s a lovely “one more run” type of game that provides plenty to keep discovering as you push on. It’s a more forgiving game than you’d guess based on the combat though, as falling in battle just means you get to restart and pick up your dropped loot again, so as long as you keep pressing on and grinding your stats and equipment you’ll keep progressing. There are even boss fights to tackle, and combat is generally challenging and thus makes the whole crafting and upgrading process engaging, as defeating a powerful foe feels like a reward in a number of ways. ![]() Some have ranged attacks, while others allow you to take them out from a small range as long as you keep dodging their attacks. Of course you’ll also face combat, and Dysmantle features different zombie types that will require different strategies. As you’d expect with all that loot, crafting’s a big element as well, and some resources will let you level up your stats and/or equipment, or add new ones to the list of things you can manufacture. You’ll gradually open up more and more of the world by activating towers and opening gateways, and as you progress you’ll also gain access to more and better weapons than the crowbar you start out with. And while that may sound like a rather simple gameplay nuance, the environments are a great catalyst – offering variety and new challenges that almost give it a metroidvania-like feel at times (but generally without much backtracking). Here, loot is crucial for building and upgrading stuff, and you get it by smashing stuff to bits. ![]() Yes, there are zombies walking around in Dysmantle, but this isn’t just a case of sticking to the shadows and striking when the risk of getting overwhelmed isn’t too great. But 10tons, which we first got to know as the developer of casual games like King Oddball, Tennis in the Face and Sparkle, has put a creative new spin on a tired genre here. It’s described as a “post-apocalyptic open world action RPG”, which probably fits hundreds of games on Steam right now. On the surface, Dysmantle seems like a typical indie you find on Steam. Reap what you sow as your crops get ripe in this post-apocalyptic world. Not long after its debut in Early Access on Steam, DYSMANTLE has launched into its 1.0 version, and developer 10tons has also launched the game on PlayStation and Xbox in the process. Fend for yourself in a world without orderĪpart from hunting zombies that rush your way, harvest their organs to craft powerful new equipment. Use them to your advantage to craft much more powerful gear. Explore even deeper to find secret catacombs and acquire materials with almost surreal powers. Visit old ruins from times long gone by, scattered across the map in strategic locations, and discover technology from the hi-tech era to face off against the living dead and harsh environment. Explore the secrets of the past in your journey Use them wisely to invent and craft new items and upgrades. Everything is at your disposal, be it discarded plastic, rubber, or metals. ![]() You must survive amidst the hordes of zombies by destroying everything you see around you and using that material to build new gear and houses.
